Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence
UConn researchers utilize data-driven approaches to solve complex problems in healthcare, finance, education, and more. Researchers across various schools and colleges, from the department of statistics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to the Research Methods, Measurement, and Evaluation (RMME) program in the Neag School of Education, apply their expertise in data analysis to real-world challenges on a daily basis.
In May 2024, UConn launched the Northeast University Cybersecurity Center for Advanced and Resilient Energy Delivery, or CyberCARED, a regional collaborative that brings together universities and industry partners to tackle the cybersecurity infrastructure needs of the Northeast Corridor. UConn has been designated three times as a National Security Agency/Department of Homeland Security Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Research and is home to several additional research and education centers focused on cybersecurity, including the Center for Hardware and Embedded Systems Security and Trust (CHEST), the Synchrony Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity at UConn Stamford, and the Center for Voting Technology Research (VoTeR).
In addition, UConn researchers are at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across various fields, from orthodontics to cancer detection. AI is poised to drive innovative solutions to perennial challenges, and UConn is proud to be bringing its robust expertise to the task.
