2009 UCHC/Storrs and Regional Campus Incentive Grants (UCIG) Competitive Program Request for Pre-Proposals

Suman Singha, Vice President for Research, and Marc Lalande, Senior Associate Dean for Research, Planning and Coordination, UCHC, and with the support of the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) planning group, are pleased to announce the UCIG Competitive Program.  Now in its second year, approximately $600,000 is being made available to faculty to promote inter-campus collaborative research programs among researchers at the UCHC and Storrs campuses.  It is anticipated that five or six grants will be awarded.  There are no indirect costs.  Project periods may range from one to two years.

Proposals emphasizing interdisciplinary interactions that bring together experts from diverse disciplines and that promote new interactions will receive preference.  Priority will be given to pre-proposals that bring investigators from two or more disciplines together and that can be incorporated into the CTSA application.

Funds can be requested up to $100,000 (2 year budget period).  Single-page pre-proposals are due May 5, 2009.  Pre-proposals will be peer reviewed and full proposals invited from among them.

The competition is open to all faculty members in a tenured/tenure-track appointment as well as Assistant, Associate or Full Professors in Residence plus Associate or Full Research Professors.

Guidelines for submitting pre-proposals are available on the Internal Program Support page at www.research.uconn.edu/ips.
