2009 UCHC/Storrs and Regional Campus Incentive Grant Program (UCIG)
FULL PROPOSAL GUIDELINES
(by invitation only)
Proposals should be single-spaced, prepared on standard (8.5 x 11") paper, with one-inch margins, and font no smaller than 12 point. The proposal must be paginated as a single document beginning immediately after the Cover Page. Proposals should be submitted electronically as an attachment (.pdf format) to Larisa.Hull@uconn.edu. The proposal should include:
A. Cover Page (use form provided)
B. Project Summary
The summary should describe the project, its objectives, the proposed outcomes, and how these will move the institution forward. The summary should be no more than 200 words in length.
C. Project Description (not to exceed 5 pages)
The project description should be written so as to be understood by non-experts. Avoid jargon and hyperbole. The following must be included in the project description:
- Project Justification. Describe any innovations or how the project will foster excellence, enhance the University’s reputation, establish a new thrust for the institution and/or enhance existing programs. Projects must address contributions to UConn’s Clinical and Translational Science Award.
- Inter/multi disciplinary Focus. Describe the inter/multi disciplinary aspects of the project. Describe collaborative arrangements. Letters of support from collaborators will be required for full proposals.
- Objective. List specific, measurable objectives to be accomplished.
- Plan of Operation. Describe how the objectives will be achieved, what resources are required and how resources will be used.
- Time Line. Provide a timetable for the project including milestones for all major project functions.
- Outcomes. Clearly explain what outcomes will be achieved. For example, what will this project add to the University? How will this proposal support UConn's Clinical and Translational Science Award?
D. Key Personnel
List the key personnel involved in the project. For each, briefly describe their roles and responsibilities. Include a two page vita of key personnel.
E. Commitments and Resources from Academic Unit(s) Describe the current capability of the academic unit(s) involved in the project and how the project is consistent with the Clinical and Translational Science Award. Document the commitment of resources (including financial support, personnel, equipment or infrastructure) to the project from the department, school/college, or other sources. Finally, describe continuation plans for the project after the period of UCIG support. Letters of commitment are required.
F. External/Internal Support within the last five years (use form provided)
G. Budget (use form provided)
Provide a budget including graduate assistant(s) and student labor salaries and fringe benefits, travel, equipment, and supplies needed to conduct the project. Justify the budget proposed in terms of the objectives. There is no requirement for matching funds. However, information on whether there are any commitments to leverage these funds should be provided. The program does not support faculty, clerical or administrative personnel salaries, nor does it support funding sub-grants or sub-awards.
