Storrs and Regional Campuses

Call for Proposals

The Vice President for Research invites proposals for research equipment that would significantly enhance the research capabilities of the University. One and one-half million dollars will be available for this one-time competition and it is anticipated that awards will be made by November 2009. The proposals should significantly enhance existing or proposed research, scholarship or creative activities; enhance external funding prospects; and advance the Academic Plan. This competition is for major equipment or an array ($100K plus) that:

  • Benefits a group of researchers
  • Enhances the research profile and thereby attracts substantial external funding
  • Can be justified in the context of significant advances in research area(s)
  • Advances the Academic Plan

A complete description of the Academic Plan is available at http://academicplan.uconn.edu/. It is anticipated that a small number of large grants will be awarded. The Principal Investigator(s) must hold a tenured/tenure-track appointment. Preference will be given to individuals not funded in the previous Provost Equipment Competition. A secondary competition for equipment that costs less than $100K will be announced in the near future.
