Intermediate Research Equipment Competition

(Storrs and regional Campuses)

Call for Proposals

The Vice President for Research and the Research Advisory Council invite proposals for research equipment or an array costing $25K-$99K that would significantly enhance the research capabilities of the University. One-half million dollars will be available for this one-time competition and it is anticipated that awards will be made by December 2009. The proposals should significantly enhance existing or proposed research, scholarship or creative activities; enhance external funding prospects; and support the Academic Plan.

Preference will be given to equipment or an array that:

• Benefits a group of researchers
• Enhances the research profile and thereby attracts substantial external funding
• Can be justified in the context of significant advances in research area(s)
• Supports the Academic Plan

A complete description of the Academic Plan is available at http://academicplan.uconn.edu/. The Principal Investigator must hold a tenured/tenure-track appointment.
