Program Description. The Interdisciplinary Colloquia/Seminar program provides opportunities for scholars/researchers to convene for the purpose of exchanging ideas and expertise and provides some support for eligible expenses. Interdisciplinary support as well as matching support from the collaborating entities is a significant factor in consideration of the awards. Applications are reviewed administratively.
Definition of Interdisciplinary. Faculty members representing at least two separate, fully collaborating, entities may apply. An entity may be a department, academic center/institute, interdisciplinary program or research area. Award Amount. Awards, generally, are granted up to $2,000, depending on the evidence of the level of interdisciplinary support as well as an explicit listing of matching financial support from multiple partners.
Eligible Expenses. Requests may be made for the following:
- Honoraria for colloquia/seminar speakers.
- Travel expenses for colloquia/seminar speakers.
- Lodging and meals for colloquia/seminar speakers only.
- Printing costs of program notices.
Application. There is no application form, but applications must include the following information (maximum of 3 pages):
- Title of colloquia
- Date of colloquia
- Concept behind the proposed colloquia/seminar program
- List of proposed speakers, and their academic affiliation; In addition, please indicate what efforts you have made, and your success in these efforts, to offer a program with a diverse (gender, ethnic, and racial diversity) set of participants and speakers.
- Projection of enhancement to research and graduate student education.
- List of faculty who support the program.
- Cash or in-kind support, if any, (include FRS number) from departments, programs, etc. of supporting faculty.
- Signatures from faculty applicants representing each entity as well as that entity's head.
**Note. A department or center generally does not receive funds for more than one colloquia/seminar per year.
Electronic Submission. Submit as a single .pdf file (preferred) to larisa.hull@uconn.edu.
Final Report. At the end of the award period, please submit a brief report describing the event and its outcomes to Larisa.Hull@uconn.edu.
